Important Announcement

**Canadian Military Education Centre Museum   Chilliwack's Canadian Military Education Centre Museum (CMEC Museum), is to close on 14 September, 2015.  The museum building on Petawawa Road, on the former military Base Chilliwack, within the Canada Education Park is now required for other occupants in the Spring of 2016.  Therefore, the old Clothing Stores building,  which has been used by the museum, but is owned by Chilliwack's City CEPCO, will be vacated by CMEC by the end of October.   The CMEC Museum regrets the loss of our exhibit location,and the circumstances...

What is the CMEC?

The Canadian Military Education Centre (CMEC) museum features displays that allow people to touch, feel and experience Canada's military history through hands-on interactive displays. The CMEC houses one of Canada's largest collections of restored military vehicles and equipment. CMEC's ultimate goal is to have all Canadian citizens, especially our youth, deeply understand the sacrifices made by our Canadian soldiers and peacekeepers and to never forget.

The Al and Elsie Antonson Military Library

Al and Elsie Antonson met in Vancouver at the end of the Second World War, marrying soon after and raising their family in Burnaby, and then living in the Fraser Valley for many years after retirement.  Al's collection of well-thumbed books on the war grew into a small home library which, with Elsie's encouragement, was donated to CMEC in 2009. Those 250 books formed the cornerstone of the growing and fascinating shelves of books on Canada and war time engagements.  CMEC's Dan Jahn, who had originated the library's collection, approached the family with the concept of them "adopting" the...
